A Comprehensive Analysis of Graduated Residents’ and Faculty Members’ Attitudes on Iranian Radiation Oncology Board Examination: A Cross-sectional Study

Background: The Iranian radiation oncology board examination (IROBE) includes a multiple-choice question (MCQ) and an objective structured clinical (OSCE). current mission of IROBE is to qualify the graduated residents (GRs) in terms competence. However, lack active monitoring its construction administration can impair evaluation GR competencies. Objectives: To determine strengths limitations IROBE. Methods: This cross-sectional online survey involved faculty members (FMs) GRs as constructors participants IROBE, respectively. target time window for inclusion study was set between 2015 2019. evaluate 22-item questionnaire distributed among FMs 29-item GRs. Mann-Whitney U test Pearson's chi-square were applied find association ordinal nominal variables, Results: surveys sent 35 107 A total 16 (45%) 42 (39%) completed survey. Overall, majority stated that has average poor quality evaluating all aspects abilities (62.5 vs. 76.1% competence, P = 0.07; 62.5 71.4% knowledge, 0.19; 100 92.9% medical ethics, 0.21; 93.7 95.3% responsibility, 0.15). assigned higher score OSCE assessment performance compared (P 0.02).
